Emergency Medical Responder ( EMR )

The EMR program is quickly becoming one of the most sought after certificates in pre-hospital care. It trains candidates in the latest techniques for emergency care in the workplace and entry into the ambulance service. The EMR certificate is recognized by WCB of Alberta and WorkSafeBC as equivalent to OFA Level 3 and is accepted by the EMA Licensing Branch of BC and the Alberta College of Paramedics for the application for exam for EMR licensure.

With the recent acceptance by WorkSafeBC of this program, employers are looking to have their first aid requirements met by successful EMR candidates in place of the Level 3. The EMR program allows more flexibility for First Aid Attendants to use medications and protocols in the workplace while meeting regulatory requirements. It will also allow many communities to upgrade the training of local first responders and new ambulance hires.
